SOS Children

SOS Children’s Villages Philippines celebrates its 50th Anniversary by promoting Filipino artistry and creativity.

This October, open your hearts as SOS Children’s Villages Philippines celebrates its 50 years in service with a fundraising event that will surely be fun, artistic, and for a good cause. “Art Exhibit for A Cause” will happen on October 24 to 29 at Upper Ground Floor, Home Zone, Alabang Town Center, Muntinlupa City. This is to present the programs & initiatives of SOS Children’s Villages Philippines and increase public awareness about the reality of neglected, abandoned and abused Filipino children. Artworks from local artists will be exhibited to generate funds for the benefit of SOS children. In every piece sold, we can provide family and home to children who have lost parental care.

Multi-awarded artists like Rene Robles, an internationally exhibited artist with over 70 solo exhibitions in Europe, USA and Asia, and Aris Bagtas, a visual artist and sculptor genius of his generation, will join us together with other artists that you don’t want to miss.

To add more fun, celebrities such as Teddy Corpuz, Maxene Magalona, Sharlene San Pedro, Trina Legaspi, Myrtle Sarrosa, and Sarah Carlos will support the event by donating pre-loved items that are going to be sold at the exhibit!

No days off.

What’s your daily schedule like?

As mommies, our list of things to do are endless… we are always the first one to wake up- to prepare breakfast, baons, uniforms, etc and we are usually always the last one to settle down in bed. There’s kids to take care of, feed, bathe, put to bed, cuddle, there’s the pile of laundry, the dogs to feed and groom, a house to clean, meals to cook, groceries to do, a husband to take care of and so on and if you’re also working mom like me, I’m sure that you are most likely exhausted at the end of the day. And by weekend, you feel like screaming and just want to run away… But you don’t because you’re a mother and we don’t give up on our kids, on our families and we go on no matter how we feel. But even mommies need time off, at least for a few hours or a even just a few minutes.

But is that really possible? When we don’t even seem to have time to comb our hair? Let me share with you how I relax and find a few precious mommy time to myself.

There’s really no secret to finding time, it’s all about making time and learning to organize and prioritize what is important.

  • Make a to do list. Be organize. Get your phones out and write down all the things that you need to do for the day. Order what needs to be done first. When you have a list, you can be more focused and you can be sure not to forget anything.
  • Seek God first. This is the top of the list. To seek God first in everything… and I assure you, you’ll be ready for whatever the day may bring. (Matthew 6:33) No matter what’s in your ‘To Do List’ or how many there are, always always spend time with God first, a few minutes to talk to Him or meditate in His Word will go a long way.
  • Teach your kids the importance of respecting time and space. We sometimes underestimate our children, but it may surprise you that they understand what you need and what you want them to do when you talk to them seriously and clearly. Tell them that you need a few minutes to yourself and give them something to do while you have your ‘mommy time’. If you are taking care of an infant, wait while they’re asleep to have your precious time to yourself. If you have toddlers, secure them in a safe playpen or room while you find time to relax.
  • Family Support. If your husband is with you, ask them to take care of the household for a few minutes. If you have a yaya or a relative with you, ask them to spare a few minutes of their time for you

There’s always a way, there’s always time, you just need to make room for it.

When I finally ‘make’ the time, this is what I do, I go to a quiet room in my house, it’s usually the guest bedroom, but sometimes to hide from Noah, ‘my secret place’ can be the closet, the bathroom, the balcony, even the car… I would ask God to take my mind off things that are not important, to take my worries and fears away and allow me to just spend time with Him. This is how I relax, I light up a lamp (my Lampe Berger) to help me feel more relaxed, I read God’s word or just listen to Worship Music and just worship Him through songs or listen to sermons and preachings in podcasts.

I listen to Worship Songs and Just ask GOd to be glorified in all that I do. TO worship Him every minute of every day.

Lampe Berger cleans and purifies the air around my home while providing long lasting and relaxing fragrance. Today I used Summer Rain which is quickly becoming a favorite, because my room just smells so fresh and clean.

To know more about Lampe Berger, please read my previous post about it. Click Here.

And just 20 minutes in my ‘mommy time’, as I covered my lamp… I hear a knock…

Oh My Noah! Well cuddle time is also one way to relax!

Whatever it is you decide to do with your mommy time, make sure you do it because you have to, remember a happy, relax mom makes a happy home. Mommies may not have any days off but we can definitely have some mommy time every day.

How do you make time for yourself? And what do you do to relax? Please share them with me and my readers in the comments section! Thank you!

Not Fairy Tales

Have you ever heard the story of Noah’s Ark? Joseph the Dreamer? David and Goliath? Samson and Delilah? Gideon? Esther? Ruth? Daniel and the Lions? And Noah’s current favorite: Jonah and the Big Fish.

Oh I love Bible stories, and unlike Cinderella or other fairy tales, these stories actually happened!

Can you imagine the Red Sea Parting? Or Jonah inside the Big Fish for 3 days? Seems Impossible right? But you see with God nothing is impossible.

Earlier at church, our pastor shared how in all of these stories, God’s ways always seems impossible and difficult to understand. For example, the story of Gideon (Judges 6) you have to read it! (More exciting than any action film around!) Gideon was the least in the weakest clan of Israel, yet God chose him to save Israel from the Midianites. Fast forward, Gideon set off with 32,000 men but God told him to bring only 300 men to battle against Thousands of men (thick as locust) which means too many to count! Imagine 300 against whattt??? And yet God delivered the Midianites, Amalekites and the rest of the other armies into Israel’s hands through the weak Gideon and his 300 men! Amazing right?

In human’s understanding, that would have seemed impossible. There seems to be a better plan and yet God shows us through these stories that His plan even if it seems impossible is still better than Man’s plan. And He does it so that we can see that it is only through Him that we can conquer anything and not through our own strength or abilities.

So whatever you are going through now, however difficult remember trust in God. Follow His ways and His plans, they seem hard but trust that it is the best and you will come out victorious if you do it God’s Way.

God does whatever He pleases. But trust that whatever He does will be good because He is a Good God!

Hallelujah!

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways ,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Trust in Him today. Let Him come to your rescue and surrender all your plans. Repent. Believe and allow God to transform your life today.

Right on time. Just as expected. “Hello Period!” Sorry to be TMI but I promise, this is worth sharing…

I had to tell Noah, not because he’s interested in the female monthly cycle at 4 years old, but because he has been praying oh so consistently to God to put two babies in mommy’s tummy. So excited in fact that he kept asking which month they were going to come out and he kept checking if my tummy was getting bigger every day (it does, but not because of babies but because of those darn salted egg potato chips 🙈)

Mommy: Noah, mommy’s on her period, that means no babies in my tummy.

Noah: (really sad) No babies? Jesus forgot us?

What an honest reaction from my 4 year old! He immediately assumed that just because God did not answer his prayer, that Jesus forgot about him already… How many of us feel the same way when God does not answer our prayers the way we want? We think and feel that God doesn’t listen or he doesn’t love us enough?

If you do like most of us, let me share with you what I told noah.

Mommy: “No anak, ofcourse Jesus did not forget us. He just knows what’s best for us and maybe He wants us to learn to be patient and to wait for His perfect time. His timing is always perfect you know.”

(Noah being the 4 year old smart boy that he is, answered…)

Noah: is that 2pm mommy? (God’s perfect time daw?) 🙄

Let us wait patiently for the Lord, not just for the answers to our prayers but for Him. Whatever it is we desire or ask for in prayer, nothing will give us more joy than getting God Himself. To experience His love. He is the ultimate reward.

I do desire more babies after Noah, but I want God more than that and I will trust that He truly knows what we need and what’s best for us. So however He answers our prayers, trust in Him, continue to seek Him, to pray to Him, to know more about Him so we can truly see that Our God is a good Father! He knows what we need even before we ask Him.
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. James 4:3 NIV

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. “If you love me, keep my commands. John 14:13-15 NIV

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Don’t forget to shower!

In the morning, when I have work like today, I wake up very early to prepare the things I need to bring, I never forget to take a shower, brush my teeth, put moisturizer and so on. These are all important things but more important than anything is to put God first. To seek Him before anything else, to spend time with Him. If God truly is the most important in our lives, and cannot leave the house without make up on or we can never forget our jewelries, car keys, etc, then we must never forget God too.
A friend once told me to do a certain something first before sharing my devotions with her, but I said “God first” and she replied with a “But He Knows”. And she’s right, God does know, He knows what I need to do and everything else that I need in my life, so why should I put Him second.

Put God first and everything else follows.

Don’t forget to shower yourself with God’s words and put on your full armor before facing the day!

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 ESV

Woman in Wonder

Have you seen Wonder Woman yet? Well I have and I love it! I love Gal Gadot! And there were a lot of quotes/ lines that kept coming back to me:

“Man are easily corrupted…There is so much darkness in them.”

“It’s not about ‘deserve’, it’s what you believe., and I believe in love.

“Only love can save the World”

I enjoyed the movie so much, and while enjoying it these lines screamed so much truth in my heart, truth that I believe everyone needs to know and be reminded of.

Aren’t we all truly easily corrupted and full of darkness? We are all sinful, no one is righteous, no not one. We have all fallen short of the glory of God! And again- it’s not about ‘deserve’- None of us deserves to be saved! No one, not even if you think you’re such a good person, NO ONE is deserving of God’s love, grace, mercy and forgiveness–and yet God provided a way! It’s not about ‘deserve’- it’s what you BELIEVE- the Bible tells us in Romans 10:9-11 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

I was a sinful woman, I didn’t deserve God’s love and yet, it’s not about what I deserve, it’s all about God and His amazing love- it’s about what I believe- and I believe in LOVE (My God is Love) Only God can save the World! Only Jesus Saves!

I am no Wonder Woman but I am a Woman in Wonder and awe of God’s amazing love for us- but I do kind of feel like Wonder Woman, putting on the full armour of God complete with the sword of the Spirit and shield of faith-

“I am Lara, daughter of the King of Kings, Lord of Lords! God’s wrath upon me now forgotten!”

Who are you? What do you believe?

Jesus is the Only way and He loves you, no matter how corrupted you think you are. Right now, if you hear His Voice, please please do not harden your heart- Seek Him Now.

“Come now, let us settle the matter,”says the LORD.”Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18

Perfect Timing

Got a call that our flight was delayed, from 7pm, it was moved to 9pm, which meant that I would be able to watch @noahalcaraz ‘ football game!

The past few days, I have been my usual stressful self, always wanting things to go my way and as planned and when it doesn’t I get stressed, worried and easily irritated. But God has shown me that He truly knows what is best and He causes all things to work for the good of those who love Him!

While I was stressing, He was fixing our schedule perfectly! I didn’t have a car last Wednesday and had to go to Makati to host the 700club, and then Marco who usually has very early morning calltimes received a late calltime which meant that he could take me to Makati before going to his taping but I had to take Uber past 1am after. But even before I finished the program, Marco texted to say he was done early and could come pick me up! (He usually finishes past 2am!) Also the next day, we got a text that the other car was ready for pick up! (Which was originally due to be ready last week of May) And today, because of the time of my flight, Marco had to take Noah to football and I had to take Uber to go to the airport, but since the flight was delayed- I not only got to see my Noah play and spend more time with my family- but it also meant that Marco was able bring me to the airport!

A lot of other things have happened that to some may be a coincidence but no one can change my mind that my God is a good Father and He is the one making and allowing things to happen!

O Thank You Father God!

And as I sit here at the airport waiting for boarding (which is delayed some more) I am no longer stressed or worried because I know God is in control! —- just as I was typing this we heard the boarding announcent! (Which we were told earlier was going to be much much later) – I believe He just wanted me to have some time to write this first- now on the bus to the plane, and I pray you are encouraged and inspired to trust in God 100%, to Seek Him first and know that He’ll take care of the rest! He knows exactly what you need and He is in control no matter how it looks right now.
