Die Beautiful

We finally had the time to watch atleast one movie of the Metro Manila Film Fest 2016 and Lord willing we could catch some more before the year ends. Earlier we chose to watch ‘Die Beautiful’ in support of our friends who are part of the movie and because we’ve heard some great reviews about it and true enough it definitely is film fest worthy!
This movie made me sad, cry and laugh but more than that it made me think about life and death and how truly unexpected death can come. It reminded me how we can never really know how much time we have left on this earth. The character Tricia was just literally crowned Bb.Pilipinas Gay and then was gone. Poof! Just like that.
In the story, Tricia always has a hard time during question and answer portions and could only memorize one answer to the question- ‘If you were to die and live again, what will you choose to be and why?’ Tricia had a beautiful answer. I can’t remember the exact words used but it was something like this: “If I were to die and blessed to live again, I would still choose to be me, because I am the only person who can fulfill the role that I need to do… so I would choose, nobody, nobody else but me.” (It was better than that, I just can’t remember) Anyways, in the movie, Tricia finally won because of that answer.
If I were to answer that question, not a pageant-y kind of answer, but I pray how all of us should answer..- The Bible tells us, that it is destined for people to die once and then the judgement (Hebrews 9:27) I believe that when I die, I no longer have the choice to do anything or change anything, I most definitely cannot live again so while I am still alive, I pray to God with all my heart that I do not waste this life that I have now, that He will give me the strength to carry out His plan and His will. To give glory to His Name until my last breath. For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21)
The tag line of the movie is “A Glamorous Life Deserves a Fabulous Death”– how can one have a fabulous death even if one never had the chance to live a glamorous life?- Only with Jesus can you have -not a fabulous death but a glorious life after death. It doesn’t matter if we think we’re living life to the full or inspiring others or doing good and being good- if we’re not living our life for Jesus, for God- then it’s all for nothing. It’s Jesus or nothing. Jesus is the only way.

To Die with Christ is to Live- and that is a beautiful death.
