Kwentong Tobias.
One day last year, (I can’t remember when exactly) out of the blue, my 3 year old Tobias asked me,
“Bakit di naman natin nakikita si God?”
(Why can’t we see God?).
So I tried to explain that eventhough we can’t see Him, He is real. He is everywhere, that He is in our hearts. And he replied with, “Dami, dami naman Jesus!” (So many Jesus!). And I just tried to explain, that He is God and He is so powerful that He can be everywhere at the same time and that’s why we don’t have to worry or be scared, because He is always with us. With that, he just continued playing.
And after a few weeks after that conversation, again, out of the blue, Tobias, the same boy who doubtfully asked why we can’t see God, blurted out, “Jesus is the best! He is so good!” And just a few days ago, while we were eating lunch, he suddenly said, “Jesus is in kuya’s heart, mommy. Jesus is the king of everything!”
I don’t know what he was thinking during those moments when he declared all of those things, but I can’t help but praise and thank God for working in my children’s hearts.
The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6,
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. “
Every night, we pray together with our 3 boys, Noah, Tobias and Momo. We also read Bible stories and talk about how good God is. And whenever we have opportunities, my husband and I, teach them biblical principles and tell them about who God is and how much He loves us.
We know that we can only do so much. It is still God who touches and changes people’s hearts – but my husband and I will always pray and lift our children up to God. Every day, we ask Him, to draw them to Him, to save them, to keep them to Himself. That they will all know Him and grow up fearing, loving and following Him. That they will be men after God’s own heart.
“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14 ESV
