Off Days

My boys wakes up at around 6 in the morning without fail. And when they wake up, they make sure I am awake too by cuddling, kissing and hugging me. By pulling my face and laughing, by singing out loud and laughing and talking with each other.

And this morning, they decided they want to drum my huge tummy. But I wasn’t able to sleep well last night. I think I finally fell asleep past 3 AM and I am exhausted! And when they started to drum my pregnant belly, I lost it! I shouted at them… actually, I shouted at Marco, my husband. “Please naman, daddy! Tulong naman! I just want to sleep for a few more minutes!!!”

And Marco who was still sleeping – sprung up, ‘startled’ from sleep – that he also, unintentionally shouted at the kids. “Go back to your bed Noah!”. “Come here Tobias!”. It was quite loud that I even felt Baby #3 jumped inside me. And he took Tobias who started to cry out of the room.

Oh I felt guilty! So guilty that I couldn’t sleep properly anymore. I apologized to Noah and Tobias for shouting at them and explained that I was just really tired.

Oh to be a mom and to be pregnant on top of it! But that’s no excuse to act the way I did.

As moms we will have our off days, especially if our bodies are raging with pregnant hormones or if we’re simply tired and having a bad day.

It’s okay not to be okay all the time and to not have it all together. So, don’t be too hard on yourself, but don’t let how you’re feeling cause you to sin and hurt the people around you. Give yourself a few minutes to breathe. Stop to pray. Pray for patience and seek God before anything else.

Thankfully, God’s grace is sufficient. His mercies are new every morning and my boys still love me… including Marco..

May all that we do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14

“Whether we eat or drink, or whatever we do, do it for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
